- 8-10 apples (preferably something slightly tart that will hold up to cooking, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 T cinnamon
- 1 t cardamom
- 1 t ginger
- 1 t cloves
- 1 t allspice
- 1 t nutmeg
- 1t mace
- 3 T butter or vegan alternative
- 1 cup cranberries
Juice 2 lemons into a large bowl. Peel and slice the apples into chunks, and toss in the lemon juice.
Put all of the other ingredients except cranberries into the slow cooker…
and turn it on high for about 20 minutes until the spices smell great and look like this:
Put the apples in, stir it up, cook on low for about 4 hours, stirring once an hour.
Put the cranberries in, and cook for one more hour.
